The crossvergence perspective: reflections and projections

Received: 10 September 2007 Accepted: 13 September 2007 Online publication date: 8 November 2007 Abstract In this retrospective, I chronicle the development of the crossvergence theory of values evolution, which states: it is the dynamic interaction of the sociocultural influences with the business ideology influences that provides the driving force to precipitate the development of new and unique values systems in societies. Crossvergence theory was introduced in our 1993 JIBS paper, and was the focus of our 1997 Decade Award paper, as well as of a series of subsequent papers. Thus I discuss the purpose and findings for six papers that have contributed to our present level of knowledge concerning crossvergence theory. I conclude my comments with a discussion of the relevance of longitudinal and multilevel research, measures found to be useful, and methodologies to consider, as well as identifying research topics in need of exploration. The Impact of Life Stage and Societal Culture on Subordinate Influence Ethics: A Study of Brazil, China, Germany, and the U.S
In this paper, we investigate the effects of societal values and life stage on subordinate influence ethics. Based on the evolving crossvergence theory of macro-level predictors of values evolution, we demonstrate the applicability of crossvergence theory in the micro-level context. Furthermore, our study provides the first empirical multi-level analysis of influence ethics utilizing a multiple...
متن کاملSimplifying the Cross-ratios Method of Point-of-gaze Estimation
Point-of-gaze estimation systems estimate the point within the visual field that is imaged on the highest acuity region of the retina known as the fovea. A new method has been introduced that estimates point-of-gaze by exploiting the invariance property of cross-ratios in projective transformations [1]. The projective transformation is formed by two perspective projections. The first projection...
متن کاملCultural differences , convergence , and crossvergence as explanations of knowledge transfer in international acquisitions
In spite of the proliferation of research on cultural differences in international mergers and acquisitions, we lack systematic analyses of the impact of cultural factors on knowledge transfer. In this paper, we argue that both national and organizational cultural differences and cultural integration in the form of cultural convergence and crossvergence affect knowledge transfer in acquisitions...
متن کاملRendering multi-perspective images with trilinear projection
Non-linear projections of 3D graphical scenes can be used to compute reflections and refractions in curved surfaces, draw artistic images in the style of Escher or Picasso, and produce visualizations of complex data. Previously, most non-linear projections were rendered by ray tracing. This paper presents trilinear projection, a technique for rendering non-linear projections in a manner that ac...
متن کاملIt’s All About the IKT Approach: Three Perspectives on an Embedded Research Fellowship; Comment on “CIHR Health System Impact Fellows: Reflections on ‘Driving Change’ Within the Health System”
As a group of Health System Impact (HSI) postdoctoral fellows, Sim and colleagues offer their reflections on ‘driving change’ within the health system and present a framework for understanding the HSI fellow as an embedded researcher. Our commentary offers a different perspective of the fellow’s role by highlighting the integrated knowledge translation (IKT) approach we...
